Jordin Sparks is keeping her head held high following her split from boyfriend Jason Derulo. The American Idol alum opened up about the breakup by posting a common phrase via Twitter on Friday, Sept. 26.
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened," the 24-year-old wrote. Despite her positive outlook, Sparks did change her Twitter background picture from one of the former couple to a sultry one of a solo Sparks wearing a white bra and flowing skirt.
Us confirmed yesterday that Sparks and Derulo, 25, split after three years of dating. Hours later, the "Marry Me" singer (he penned the song for Sparks last year) discussed his new relationship status during an interview with KDWB in Minneapolis.
"Everything is cool man," he said. "It's not a bad situation, it's not one of those kinds of things."
Just one month earlier, Derulo said he was planning on popping the question to his longtime love. "It will be the most amazing time," he told ABC's Nightline at the time. "When I do get down on one knee, it's going to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life, but when the time is right."
